Noun clause

Nouns clause adalah klausa yang berfungsi sebagai nomina dengan kata lain noun clause yang memiliki fungsi sama sebagai noun (kata benda) . Maka noun clause dapat berfungsi sebagai :
·      
   Subject kalimat (subject of a verb)
Noun clause berada di awal kalimat dan berfungsi sebagai subjek kalimat .
Contoh :
-          What do you think I do not understand (apa yang kamu pikirkan aku tidak mengerti) .
-          how he so smart that makes people want to seem (bagaimana dia menjadi pintar sehingga membuat orang ingin menjadi sepertinya) .

·         Object kalimat (object of a verb)

Berfungsi sebagai objek kalimat .
Contoh :
-          I knew what he expected (saya tahu apa yang dia harapkan) .
-          I understand what he is talking (saya mengerti apa yang dia jelaskan) .
·         Object preposisi (object of a preposition)

Dapat berfungsi menjadi objek untuk preposisi dengan cara yang sama seperti kata benda dan kata ganti .
Contoh :

-          My departure for holiday  will depend upon whether I get leave or not (keberangkatan saya untuk liburan akan tergantung pada apakah saya mendapat izin cuti atau tidak) .
-          I was sad to hear what was said to her when she refused to love me (saya sedih mendengar apa yang diucapkan kepadanya ketika dia menolak cinta saya) .
·         Subject pelengkap (subject complement)
mempunyai fungsi sebagai pelengkap suatu kalimat nosional atau predikasi yang merupakan argumen predikat .
-          The good news is that the price of fuel has dropped back (kabar baiknya adalah bahwa harga bbm telah menurun kembali) .
-          that is what you do during this (itu adalah apa yang kamu perbuat selama ini) .

·         Pemberi keterangan tambahan (noun in appositive)

Dapat berfungsi sebagai kata benda, kata ganti, atau nominal (kata atau kelompok kata yang bertindak sebagai kata benda) yang ditempatkan di samping kata benda untuk menjelaskannya .
-          the fact that the human needs money for the necessities of life (faktanya bahwa manusia membutuhkan uang untuk kebutuhan hidupnya) .
-          the idea that all people should dispose of waste in place (ide atau gagasan bahwa semua orang harus membuang sampah pada tempatnya) .

1.     Noun Clause dengan Question Word
klausa nomina yang diawali dengan kata tanya, seperti: when, where, why, how, who, whom, what, which, whose .
contoh :
-          when your birthday ? (kapan ulang tahun kamu)
I dont know when your birthday (saya tidak tahu kapan ulang tahun kamu)
-          Please let me know what your name ? (tolong beri tahu siapa nama kamu)
-          I dont know who you are (saya tidak tahu siapa kamu)

2.      Noun Clause dengan Yes/No Question
                Biasanya digunakan untuk kalimat if atau whether .
Contoh :
-          Is he lying ?
(apakah dia berbohong ?)
I dont know whether he is lying or not
(saya tidak tahu apakah dia berbohong atau tidak)
-          Which one would you choose pants or shirt ?
(yang mana yang kamu pilih celana atau baju ?)
if you buy a pants , I would buy the shirt
(jika kamu membeli celana , saya akan membeli baju)

3.     Noun Clause dengan That Question
Biasanya that-clause digunakan untuk mental activity.
Contoh :
-          all the men said that the woman was very beautiful (semua pria berkata bahwa wanita itu sangat cantik) .
-          I think that he will come at the right time (saya pikir bahwa dia akan datang pada waktu yang tepat) .


4.     Noun Clause dengan To Infinitive Question
                To Infinitive biasanya disebut juga dengan “Infinitive” yaitu kata kerja yang ditambah dengan kata  “to” .
Contoh :
-          Please tell me how to use vacum cleaner (tolong beritahu saya bagaimana cara menggunakan vacum cleaner) .
-          They make me to wash the clothes (Mereka meminta saya untuk mencuci pakaian itu) .
